"All-too-often, our society and our churches lead us to believe that poverty is a direct result of scarcity. Simply put, the belief is: “There are not enough resources for everyone”. A brief glance at the news and media would seem to support this. There is no small shortage of people starving or being pushed to the edges of humanity. Furthermore, we are often taught that this “unfortunate reality” is not only happening, but rather it is quite necessary for the advancement of the human race. Think about it—how could we so easily get all of our “stuff” without the “harmless” deforestation of land and the relocation of indigenous peoples? This systematic pillaging of the lives of people does not only occur in the remote rainforests of far-off lands, it happens in our own front yards. Hence the need for such a ministry as C4AP in the heartland. Is scarcity really an inevitable truth? Is there really not enough to go around?"
