NotesIf someone immigrates illegally to the U.S. as an English-speaking middle-class Christian with an education and a career, nobody really cares. A movie like The Proposal can do just fine because the majority of Americans really see no problem with a pretty white girl cheating the system/committing fraud to take “American jobs”. No one cared when she did it, and non-Mexican illegal immigrants are not non-existent. They are just ignored.

You will note that there’s no passage in scripture which differentiates between “legal” and “illegal” immigrants (a term which has been created by the descendants of people who came to this country and took it over by violent oppression of those who were “here first”).
God has a singular and united opinion on how God’s people are supposed to treat aliens: as equals. The weakness of social status means that they should be protected, not exploited, by those who claim to follow God.
While i don’t consider myself a Christian, this is a very important element of the Arizona nonsense, and the immigration ‘issue’ in general that’s seemingly missing from mainstream discussions about it.
